In the world of cleaning, we’ve always done things a little differently. Now it’s official: YOKUU is a Certified B Corp™.

This means we meet some of the highest standards for social and environmental impact - from how we design our products to how we treat people, communicate with customers, and consider our footprint on the planet.

Here’s what that actually means - and why we wanted this.

So, what is a B Corp?

A B Corp is a business that balances purpose with profit.

To earn the certification, companies go through an extensive assessment across five key areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. You need a minimum score of 80 to qualify. We scored 94.8 - something we’re really proud of.

But it’s not a finish line. B Corp certification lasts for three years, after which you need to reapply - and show progress.

Why did we want to become a B Corp?

Because we believe cleaning can be radically better.

From the beginning, we’ve questioned the basics: Why bottle water? Why coat our homes in harsh chemicals? Why create single-use plastic just to get something “clean”? And most importantly: do we really need to kill 99.9% of bacteria?

Instead, we make products powered by nature - using good bacteria, not harsh synthetic ingredients. Products that are refillable, reusable, and genuinely effective. With every starter kit, we save up to 3kg of CO₂ and 33 plastic bottles. These aren’t marketing claims - they’re independently verified.

We’ve also committed to honest, transparent marketing. No greenwashing. No overblown claims. Just clarity about what we do and don’t do.

And we invest in science: testing the safety of our microbes, researching how to support a healthier indoor biome, and learning more about how good bacteria can help us live better.

What does this change?

You’ll still get the same cleaning products - but behind the scenes, we’re holding ourselves to a higher standard.

The B Corp framework pushes us to keep going: to reduce our carbon footprint, increase transparency in our supply chain, and measure our social and environmental performance more rigorously.

It also connects us to a wider community of companies trying to build a different kind of business - one where people and planet matter just as much as profit.

What's next?

We’re excited to keep improving. Some things we’re already working on:

  • Measuring our full CO₂ footprint (not just our packaging)
  • Making it easier to trace our supply chain
  • Sharing more about the real-world impact of our microbes
  • Involving our community (that’s you) in future decisions

If you’re already using YOKUU, you’re part of that. Thank you for being here.

And if you’re new: we’re glad you found us.
